This service began in 1901 under the "Railway Mail Service" and the postmarks used the initials "R.P.O" (Railway Post Office). This service came to
the "Sea Post" 01. October 1912 until it was interrupted early in 1917, due to the German declaration of unrestricted submarine warfare against all ships.
The service was resumed in 1921, again under the "Railway Mail Service", until it came under the control of the "Sea Post" from 1925.
It continued until February 1942, shortly after the Japanese declared war.
