The sea mail between New York and Buenos Aires started on 17 July 1926 with four ships of the "Munson Line". The postmark "BA1" was used only by
the Munson Line until 1938, when they ceased operations on this line.
- Nr. 1 - S.S. American Legion
- Nr. 2 - S.S. Southern Cross
- Nr. 3 - S.S. Pan America
- Nr. 4 - S.S. Western World
This service was taken over by the "American Republic Line" with three ships, the "Argentina", "Brazil" and the "Uruguay". On these ships,
the "BA2" type stamp was used. The service ended in October 1941, before the USA entered the Second World War.
On the way to Buenos Aires, the ships called at Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Montevideo. On the way back to New York, also Port of Spain.
